Final Broadcast of the Year!

Come join us for our final broadcast of the year, which is taking place on Tuesday, May 19th at 7:00 pm pacific/10:00 pm eastern. This is our 17th live broadcast of the year and it is also our "Senior Night." We'll be saying farewell to Nicola, Stephanie and Angie during this show.

The Gator Radio Experience appreciates all of our loyal followers and we hope you're able to join us for our final show of the 2008-2009 school year tomorrow!

Gator Radio Experience Inauguration Show this Tuesday!

The Gator Radio Experience's next show is scheduled for Tuesday, January 20th at 6:30 PM Pacific time (click here for the time in your corner of the globe). Our focus for this show is the historic inauguration of Barack Obama. We would like to interview a few people who will be attending the parade and/or the actual inauguration.

If you are interested in being interviewed by our wonderful student co-hosts on the Gator Radio Experience, please email Matt Montagne at matt_montagne (at) castilleja dot org as soon as possible. The only thing you would need to connect with us is a cell phone (although Skype would be preferred).

Final Show for 2008 this Wednesday, December 10th

Join the Gator Radio Experience as we say good-bye to 2008 with our final show of the year on Wednesday, December 10th at 8:00 pm Pacific time (click here for time conversion). We'll each share some of our "favorites" from the year and we hope to be joined my members of the state champion Gator volleyball team. We'll also do a review of the Pantomime show that just took place at Castilleja and some of our team members will talk about what they'll be doing over the upcoming winter vacation.

Episode #4 Preview

Episode #4 of the Gator Radio Experience will air live this coming Wednesday, December 3rd at 6:30 PM Pacific/9:30 PM Eastern. Click here to find out the date/time in your part of the world.

In this episode we'll be speaking with Brynn Thomas, who literally ran around the world with the "Blue Planet Run" foundation during the summer of 2007 to raise awareness about water quality issues. We'll also be joined by Rishi Raghunathan, who is a friend of Mr. Montagne's, to discuss the recent events in Mumbai, India. Rishi is an American of Indian descent and he will share his perspective on the Mumbai situation with our broadcast team.

We'll also feature a music set, an interactive chat room for our listeners to participate and ask questions, and a few listener polls. Remember, if you can't catch us live, all of our past episodes are posted on our blog and are available for downloading as podcasts. We hope to see you this week for Episode #4 of the Gator Radio Experience!

Show #2-Wednesday, November 5th at 6:30 PM Pacific Time

If you haven't received your fair share of media coverage surrounding Campaign 2008, then join the Gator Radio Experience this Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 at 6:30 pm as we recap the US election. We'll be joined by a really interesting mixture of guests who will share their perspective on the election. The guest list includes:

  • Ishan Sinha and Julia Rothacker, two politically engaged students from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
  • Natalie Morin and Angela Moore, two Castilleja students who will be sharing about their experience volunteering at polling locations election day.
  • Eileen Donahoe, National Chair of Women for Obama.
  • NEW: Vinnie Vrotny, a resident of Illinois, who was actually at the rally in Grant Park on election day!!

In addition to our conversation regarding the election, we'll also feature a music set by Lido Beach of Los Angeles, CA and do a local, national and international news piece. We hope to see you this Wednesday (or perhaps Thursday in your corner of the world!) for our second Gator Radio Experience broadcast!

First Show: Wednesday, October 29th at 8:00 Pacific Time/October 30th at 03:00 UTC

Join us in a series of live, interactive radio show style broadcasts this coming Wednesday, October 29th at 8:00 pm Pacific/October 30th at 03:00 GMT as a team of high school students from the Castilleja School in Palo Alto, California kicks off a live series of webcasts known as the "Gator Radio Experience." Click here to convert the time to your time zone/area of the world. Wednesday's show will feature a special guest from Victoria, British Columbia, Doug Symington, who will talk with our lead hosts about the upcoming election here in the US. We'll also play a music set by the the San Diego, California band, We Shot the Moon. This set was picked out by GRE Team member, Sam Cecil.

These radio shows will be interactive in nature, meaning that they'll allow listeners to participate via a chat room, polls, and forums. The shows are moderated and facilitated by students and will feature music, interviews, news of the day, and commentary. We invite you to participate and listen live by visiting clicking the link along the right-hand side bar that says, "Listen live and join the chat." The show is password protected and we expect all chat room guests and participants to interact with one another in a kind and respectful manner.

Either check your email or ask one of the Gator Radio Project team leaders what the password is for the first show. We invite folks who are outside of the school community to participate, but you'll need to email/DM Matt Montagne or one of the project team members for the password. No worries if you can't join live as all shows will be archived and available as podcasts via the Gator Radio Experience iTunes channel.
